Down & Dirty Aluminum This option gets you parts the fastest and cheapest. Perfect for short run, testing and evaluation, proof of concept, pull ahead production. 2 -10 day build typical and complexity of parts are NOT a problem. Master Unit Die Aluminum - Quick & Inexpensive but capable of running most parts in production for 10,000 parts plus depending on material. MUD Molds are a Common Tooling Platform for most Custom Molders and you own the MUD cavity core set.
- When you want to run production parts in non abrasive materials.
- When you need to save $$ on tooling to get started right away
- When you want to own the tooling & keep your production options open
- Great for simple and moderately complex parts
RFP Mold Aluminum - Relatively Inexpensive - Production capable (material dependent) and Complex and Unusual Part Geometry Capable. Made to International Mold standards and capable of being run at most Custom Molders. Common ejector patterns, cooling sprue etc...
- When part geometry is more complex, larger in size or outside the "normal" parameters
- When you need to save $$ over traditional custom injection mold builds
- When you need to save time and get production parts in shorter time frames
Steel Multi Cavity and High Production Molds - We leave that to those who specialize in that. I know who they are and if you need that I certainly can point you in the right direction.
Complex Parting Lines and Runoff - My background in developing tough mold splits and runoff design started with Textron Automotive and Cimatron. Cimatron pioneered the best mold split and design CAD software in the industry with Quick Split. I still use Cimatron for my mold design and CAM programming projects and I've never met a mold split and design it can handle.

This mold is a 4 cavity family mold for my large TwisTUBE components. It is a very compact mold designed to run in smaller shot size injection mold presses and the hydraulic ejection was added for the extra ejector stroke needed on the smaller presses. It also is a family mold that produces both components in the same mold reducing startup and initial tooling cost. This mold is made of NAK55 mold steel with an optical polish on the clear Knob component. Mold cycle times are a very respectable 22 seconds.

3D MOLD DESIGN $80
Whether you need a down and dirty mold or a production mold I offer excellent value with extensive design experience at a reasonable rate of $80.00 per hour. For a simple straight pull MUD mold design you can expect to pay as little as $320.00 to $1,280... Complex mold designs typically will run from $1,280 to $6,400.
